Sport

Participating in sports at school is crucial for students as it promotes physical health, enhances teamwork, and develops essential life skills. Sports also foster important social skills, such as cooperation, communication, and leadership, as students work together towards common goals.

Early Years School

All children participate in Little Stars Fitness throughout the year, offering a stimulating learning experience about health, nutrition, and fitness. They enjoy fitness sessions with mini gym equipment, followed by smoothie making.

Nursery children also have a weekly soft play session, while Reception children partake in various PE lessons, including one taught by a visiting sports coach that focuses on motor skills and ball handling.

All Early Years children can attend optional ballet classes led by teachers from the English ballet school.

Junior School

Students participate in two PE sessions each week. Children in Years 3 to 6 take part in our swimming program at Mirandabad Pool in Amsterdam-Zuid, where Dutch instructors provide lessons, following the Dutch diploma system from beginners to C++ level.

Once a year, we hold a traditional sports day for students in Years 2 to 6. They are grouped by house teams, competing in games and races to earn points.

Senior School

We are a Topscore School, part of a sports programme led by the local authority’s sports service to introduce teenagers to various sports and encourage ongoing participation.

Local club coaches conduct introductory courses lasting 6 to 12 weeks, followed by inter-school competitions.

Students can then join the clubs to continue their involvement. Currently, the school has partnerships with RC Amstel (rowing) and BC Apollo (basketball), both of which have been popular and successful in local and national competitions. These programs help connect our students and their families with local clubs and the broader Amsterdam community.

At present, the School has a Topscore partnership with RC Amstel (Rowing) and BC Apollo (Basketball). Both programmes have been very popular and resulted in many successes in local and national competitions. They are also an important link for our students, and their families, joining local clubs and the wider community in Amsterdam.
