b'Issue 11 The British School of AmsterdamCelebrating Book WeekBook Week is an annual event in the school. Its purpose is to instil a love of reading in the children. Throughout the week, the children took part in a variety of activities to do just that. Dress Up day was the finale of Book Week. All the children and staff dressed up for the occasion. In Nursery, children dressed up as their favourite book character, they were invited to bring the story book to school and share it with their class. With traditional tales as their literacy focus this half term, the children in Year One were invited to dress up as their favourite fairy tale character. The Gingerbread man, Robin Hood, Little Red Riding Hood were amongst our visitors. Rhyme was the theme for the children in Reception, they were invited to dress up as one object and bring another that rhymesthere were bones in (head)phones, a nurse with a purse, a bear with a pear. The ideas and the costumes were really creative.5'
