b'Issue 17 The British School of AmsterdamResidential Programme The start of this term saw the return of our annual residential programme, that enables pupils across all year groups to develop and apply many of our habits of learning in real life contexts. Whether it was demonstrating resourcefulness creating a buoyant raft, or collaboration and communication to problem solve, or even showing determination to complete a mountain bike trek spanning 20+ kilometres, each pupil had the opportunity to try something new, develop a skill, or apply an already learnt one in a new context.A sense of community and the power of good relationships is key to our success as a school and so these dayswere also a wonderful opportunity to create and buildrelationships between both pupils and staff. To help and support one another during times of challenge and to celebrate and congratulate in times of triumph and success.Upon return to school we have built upon theseexperiences, strengthening relationships, developingand transferring skills, knowledge and understandingto the various subjects and lessons taking place. This really was a week that successfully set thefoundations for the term and year ahead. YMBSARecital SeriesThis Autumn saw two YMBSA (Young Musicians of the BSA) recitals taking place in the Globe. The programmes featured many of our Junior and Senior harpists, cellists, clarinetists, guitarists, and pianists, performing a diverse range of repertoire, from Rachmaninov to Metallica. Congratulations to all the talented pupils for their most enjoyable performances. The recital series was established last year to provide our pupils with further learning and performance opportunities. The warm acoustics afforded by the Globe add to the occasion. We look forward to upcoming recitals in January, May and June.15'
