b'The NewsEarly Years SchoolThe Early Years SchoolWe welcomed 65 new familiesto the Early Years School in September. For many childrenit was their first experienceof school. In the early weeks of a new school year, our focus is always on the personal, social and emotional needs of every child. Starting school should be a positive experience. The first few weeks are vital as children start to build strong relationships with their teachers and peers. We were delighted at how quickly everyone settled into the term, and how quickly the school became a happy and busy learning environment.SETTLING INTO CLASSROOM LIFE There is always so much to celebrate at the end of each term, this edition of The Review provides a snapshot of some the childrens experiences this term. It also provides the opportunity to introduce our Rooftop Secret Garden. Before the summer, our qualified forest school teachers worked alongside a landscape gardening company to develop an environment which will enable a smaller scale forest school approach, providing children with hands on experience as they explore elements of a natural environment. We are delighted to be able to introduce this into our curriculum. Alongside practical skills, children will learn to work alongside and collaboratively with each MS PETO (L) AND MRS BAKKER CAINE (R)other, develop their confidence, and hopefully a love of the outdoors. There are some goodbyes to be said shortly. Mrs Bakker Caine is leaving the Early Years at the end of the term to work for COA as a youth worker, supporting teenage refugee girls (12 -17) who have no family in The Netherlands. We wish her every success on her new career path. Ms Peto starts her maternity leave in January. She will spenda year looking after her first child in a new role as a mother.Ms Peto plans to return in February 2025 with a new name:Mrs Prjevara. We wish Ms Peto a safe delivery and look forward to meeting the new addition to her family later in 2024.I would like to thank you for all the support you give to the children and the staff in the Early Years. Wishing you all a lovely holiday.GETTING HANDS-ON IN CLASSMRS CLAUDIA VAN DE LAAR-NEWSONHEAD OF EARLY YEARSc.newson @ britams.nl 4'
