b"The NewsEarly Years SchoolThe Early Years SchoolWe welcomed more than 80 new families to the Early Years School (EYS) at the start of the Autumn Term. The staff were so impressed by the way in which the children happily came into school without the support of their parents inside the classroom.c.newson@britams.nl It's a very big step for EYS children but they coped extremely well. Although the children have only been in school for a term, it is incredible to see the progress that they have made. Whilst we continue to work under the restrictions of Covid-19, parents are not allowed into the classrooms. I hope this edition of The Review gives parents just a glimpse inside the School and showcases some of the learning that has taken place. The end of September saw the end of some restrictions. We were delighted to be able to reintroduce some lessons and activities to the curriculum such as specialist Dutch and EAL lessons, assemblies, music, FitNut (fitness and nutrition), Well-Being Week, birthday celebrations and the Year One concert. The children took these changes to the timetable in their stride and it felt like we were almost back to normal. This term we were able to offer some support to parents. Language consultant Eowyn Crisfield led a workshop on supporting children as additional English language learners. As an Early Years School we are also able to support parents individually with family language planning to maximise childrens language learning. Lynn Shore, Head of Curriculum support (Senior School) led a workshop on healthy eating which included valuable tips for fussy eaters as well as practical ideas for a healthy lunchbox. Other workshops are planned for the next year.MISS RIGELSFORDThe start of the term marked Miss Helen Rigelsfords 25th year at The British School of Amsterdam. Miss Rigelsford has worked in a variety of roles since starting at The British School in Jan van Eijckstraat as a class teacher. You will most probably know her as the EYS Learning Support Coordinator. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Miss Rigelsford for her valuable contribution to the School. As we approach the end of the term, many staff and families are left wondering whether their travel plans over the Christmas period will go ahead. I hope that you all do get to spend time with your families and loved RAINBOW STICK ACTIVITIES ones during the holiday and look forward to another busy term in January.Happy Holidays,MRS CLAUDIA VAN DE LAARHEAD OF EARLY YEARS4"
