b'The NewsJunior SchoolThe Junior SchoolWe have had a busy Autumn term at the Junior School, and it has been great to see how much learning has taken place across the school. It has been an eventful and packed Autumn Term! All of our classes and year groups have settled in well, as the children very quickly got used to new routines, new teachers and lots of friends. Many new children joined the school from other countries around the world and also other schools in Amsterdam, and there are now over 425 children in the Junior School. We have had a great Autumn Term, learning new things and challenging ourselves to do even better. Exciting topics have been the learning focus in each year group and schoolhas been brought to life with Romans marching the corridors in Year 4,to a hot air balloon being discovered in the playground in Year 2. As well as great topics in each year group, each class has been on a school YEAR 3 trip this term, and clubs and activities after school have been a highlight for the children. School Council has been re-elected, and the children have organised events to raise money for charity with the Children in Need event being a particular success. The Eco Squad has also been meeting, thinking of ways to help us look after the environment with a particular focus on highlighting the amount of single use plastics which are used in packaging. They have also launched a Food Bank initiative to help in our local community.Year 4 produced a wonderful production of The Wind in the Willows and it was fantastic to have parents in the theatre for our first production of the YEAR 4 year, and Year 2 get to close the Autumn Term with their wonderful show! Choirs are up and running and have spent the term preparing for their winter performances. Alongside this, chamber choir was also invited along with the senior choir to perform at the Remembrance Ceremony in Amsterdam. We have said hello to some new staff, and we are excited for staff who are going on maternity leave to start new familiesI would like to thank all the children and our wonderful staff for working hard all term, and wish everyone a lovely Christmas break, and we look forward to welcoming everybody back in January ready for the new year!
