b"Issue 13 The British School of AmsterdamGeography Year 13 HexagonsPart of the A Level Geography course is linking different ideas and concepts together. In Unit 3- Contested Planet- there is a specific synoptic question. Each key word or term from a specific unit of work (Atmosphere & Weather Systems, Biodiversity under Threat, Water Conflicts and Superpower Geographies) was written on each side of the hexagon. The students then had to place the hexagons next to each other, ensuring each key word or term is linked to another. We then had a class discussion on how the word and terms are linked. Once we did this for one unit of work, we mixed up the hexagons from the other units of work and repeated the exercise. This encouraged the students to discuss, describe, explain and evaluate along with thinking in a lateral way on how different aspects of the course (AS and A2) are linked together. On 25 & 26 March 2022, the school hosted the second BSA Model United Nations. After months of excellent organising by the two Secretary Generals, Ellie Parkhill and Veer Shah, approximately 100 delegates were ready for debating. Model UnitedTopics that were discussed included Reduction of Brain Drain, Cryptocurrency, Solar Energy, Affordable Nations(MUN) technology for Education across 5 different committees, including the Security Council. Across the 2 days, there was energised debating and relevant and thoughtful solutions to the issues being debated. I would like to thank Lisa Harrison for all her support in ordering flags, country placards and supporting Ellie and Veer, and also Ms Conboy for all her continued support in helping run the club. The current Year 12's are looking forward to organising the third MUN conference after the success of this year.17"
