b'Issue 13 The British School of AmsterdamCelebrating our HomeLanguages: the return ofEAL Stay and Play Sessions With the change in Covid restrictions the summer term has marked the return of EAL Stay and Play sessions. Traditionally started in the Autumn term as a way for children and parents who speak the same language to get to know one another a little, a chance to ask the Early Years EAL team any questions, and to celebrate as many of the languages represented in the school as possible, it felt a little strange to be hosting them towards the end of the year.Despite this the sessions have been hugely successful. Many of the children and parents already know one another, however for those who arrived during the pandemic, these sessions have been a great way to finally really settle in and make new friends who share a common language. The children have loved listening to stories and songs in their home languages, as well as viewing some excellent animation, as per parent suggestions, from their home countries. The parents seemed to enjoy them too.9'
