At least five stamps earnt the children an ice-cream as a reward. Many thanks to all the parents involved in making the international day a wonderful event for everyone.Year One PresentationsThis term, the children in Year One learnt all about castles. This history topic covers the Year 1 learning objectives related to learning about the past. As part of this topic the children were asked to make a short spoken presentation to their class. They had to choose a famous person from the past 100 years, it could be someone worldly renowned, a famous person of the childs own interest or someone from the childs home country. The children had to make a poster about the person with pictures and short pieces of information to prompt their presentation. The children were asked to talk for atleast a minute and be able to tell everyone;WHO IS THEIR FAMOUS PERSON? WHEN WAS THIS PERSON BORN AND WHATCOUNTRY DID THEY COME FROM? WHY ARE THEY FAMOUS? WHY DID THEY CHOOSE THIS PERSON TO TALK ABOUT? ANY OTHER INFORMATION THEY WANT TO SHARE.Children practiced their presentations at home and then presented their famous person to the class. The children plotted all of the chosen famous people along a timeline to grasp a greater understanding of the past and the passing of time.8'
