b'The NewsJunior SchoolYear 3Year 3 were the first year group to head to camp this year, and they had a wonderful time exploring nature, working together and they even managed to go to bed on time (almost!).The days were filled with exciting activities such as den building, and Year 3 were tasked with making one from scratch in teams. They had to be able to fit in it and it had to camouflage them in the environment, using only materials such as branches, leaves and moss.The pupils took part in nature art activities; creating their own masterpieces with items they could find in the forest, observing plants and mini-beasts and designing games to play using only natural materials. Camp was the first time many children had spent a night away from home and was certainly the first experience of sharing a dormitory for most so that made for an enjoyable time with friends.Year 4It was also a chance for them to independently organise themselvesthey rose to the challengeAs most pupils in Year 4 had been on and the teachers were very proud of how maturely everyone acted throughout the time away. camp the year before, they excitedly anticipated what they knew would be a great few days away from school and home in a different environment. As they loaded onto the coaches ready to take them on the adventure, happy and lively discussions took place amongst them and there were smiles all round as they waved goodbye. Varied activities during the day such as tree climbing, obstacle course races, nature walks and archery meant the group had time to work collaboratively, problem solve and develop new skills.Toastie making on open fires was an entertaining experience, as well as a chance for the pupils to learn about fire safety and the importance of following instructions. The end products went down as the worlds best toasties!. In the evening, the pupils enjoyed a quiz and games night and Mrs Brass bingo was much enjoyed and brought out many pupils competitive side.10'
