b"Issue 19 The British School of AmsterdamNurseryChildren and staff recently celebrated their fantastic year in Nursery with a special fun morning! It started with a breakfast outside in the sunshine, that parents and carers could also join. We were so lucky to have a sunny morning and it was a lovely atmosphere as families joined together to eat and talk. There were croissants and juice available and special 'baby' croissants for the children. After the parents (reluctantly) left us, we were joined by a company called Hetschminkpalet that set up in the playground and had a table for face painting, one for sparkly tattoos and special balloon creations to take home at the end of the day.We all enjoyed a dance in the disco and some dressing up for the photo bootheven the teachers joined in!ReceptionReception classes went on a trip to Playhood, which had 12 interactive roleplay areas that are perfectly designed for their age group. We had a wonderful time and we were spoiled with the different themes relating so closely to our curriculum. We visited in two groups and there was an expert on hand to interact with each of them. In the first group there was a theatre performer and a firefighter for the second. The police station was an absolute hit, especially with a secret tunnel for the prisoners to escape through! The children freely explored the whole facility, checking in to the play hotel, doing their shopping and pretending to be hairdressers. They drew upon their knowledge from our Space topic as they entered the space station and took off to the moon. They also went magnet fishing in the Amsterdam canals before sorting and recycling the rubbish they had collected. There was something for everyone and so many opportunities for the children to extend their vocabulary, play imaginatively, interact with real life scenarios and use their maths knowledge. The adults enjoyed themselves just as much as the children, dressing up and observing them in their play. This was a positive experience, as not only did they go on their first big adventure off the school premises, but they were beautifully behaved whilst guests at Playhood. Well done!5"
